Baptism

As couples welcome children into their lives and choose to baptize them and accept the responsibility to form them in the Catholic faith, they are asked to consider their own faith and relationship with the church. They are expected to gather with other new parents and ponder the signs, symbols and gifts received in the sacrament of baptism. Parents can ponder anew their own baptism and call to discipleship as they prepare to take on this new role with their own child.

The Diocese of Greensburg has official qualifications for baptism sponsors  as well as the appropriate number of sponsors required.

Baptismal Guidelines

A pre-baptism class is offered quarterly and is required to highlight the parents’ sacred commitment to a regularly (weekly) practice of the Catholic faith, to familiarize them with the christening ceremony and to instruct them on godparent requirements.
